Beyond Groceries: How Whole Foods Builds Community Through Non-traditional Venues

Whole Foods Market is constantly pushing the envelope to re-interpret what its customers would like to see in their local stores.  From Wellness Centers to Tap Rooms, WFM has found that non-traditional grocery store venues bring people together, create community and positively affect the bottom line. Many of these venues within the stores have become destinations on their own, independent from the errand of grocery shopping.

2011 CONFERENCE RECAP

Attendance for IRDC 2011 was up 12% over 2010, making it one of the strongest years in the event’s 11-year history. The conference was held September 7-9 at the Parc 55 Wyndham in San Francisco, steps from Union Square, the heart of the city’s retail center.

Joie de Vivre Hospitality’s Chip Conley drew high praise for his opening keynote presentation, suggesting ways to mind-read your customers to go beyond their expectations.
