Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone. It's 2pm and I'm already contemplating tonight's margarita in honor of the occasion, which has me also contemplating the site we've chosen for this year's big IRDC bash. That would be Iron Cactus, a three-story restaurant in the heart of downtown Dallas. I had dinner on the balcony there last fall and was very pleased by (1) the huge menu of "contemporary Mexican cuisine," especially the guacamole prepared tableside, (2) the lively atmosphere and festive clientele and (3) the cool view of the streetscape below. Our Thursday-night party will be practically on the street, as we take over the restaurant's spacious patio level.

Although we didn't realize this at the time of booking -- honest! -- it turns out that Iron Cactus features 80 types of tequila. Yeesh. It's a really good thing this place is walking distance from The Adolphus
